TERTIARY EDUCATION

I completed a Science course at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and obtained a Bsc. Hons. degree in Biochemistry.

COCA-COLA
Southern Africa 
13 years
I started my soft drinks career as a Plant Chemist  in a  Coca-Cola bottling plant in Johannesburg. Responsibilities included Quality Control, Syrup-making and Production Statistics.
Thereafter I was transferred to the Company's Concentrate factory as the Plant Chemist in charge of quality control of all  process stages of concentrate and beverage bases manufacture. The next step was my transfer to the Coca-Cola Africa Area Head Office were I  was appointed as Staff Chemist in charge of Quality and Manufacturing at the  Concentrate Plant, Research and Development for the Area and I also performed  on-site Quality Audits in the many Franchise Bottling Plants in southern
Africa.
 
In all positions at Coca-Cola I was extensively engaged in technical trouble-shooting exercises for Concentrate plants and for Franchise bottlers throughout sub-Saharan Africa and as such accumulated much experience in CSD technology.

SCHWEPPES South Africa
7 years
I was Technical Manager responsible for all quality and technical aspects of the Schweppes South Africa soft drink business and the manufacturing operations conducted in the Coca-Cola franchise bottling plants in which the Schweppes beverages were produced.

I was also in charge of the existing Schweppes concentrate and beverage base manufacturing  facilities and eventually designed, installed and commissioned a new Schweppes beverage emulsions and concentrates plant in Windhoek, Namibia

FOOD TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANCY
14  years
I  have been consulting in the Beverage Industry in Southern Africa and am the sole priprietor of my business. I have consulted to a diverse array of clients which includes but is not limited to CSD bottling operations, juice processors, mineral water producers, fruit drink and alcoholic beverage companies, flavour houses and private entrepreneurs.

My services have covered such fields as new product development, trouble-shooting quality and technical problems, training laboratory and production operators, food legislation matters, process equipment sourcing and installation, QC laboratory design, compiling production manuals,  issuing product specifications and mixing instructions etc. etc.
